UASWhat is UAS?
UAS is the Undergraduate Anthropology Society for Northwestern University. UAS continuously integrates undergraduate majors and minors with faculty, graduate students, and the university at large. Quarterly events expose undergraduates to the diverse facets of anthropology research and the abundant career opportunities extending into fields like medicine, law, education, business, environmental services, and many others. Frequent “Coffee with a Professor” events are held throughout the year for students to chat with professors in a fun and relaxed environment. UAS offers mentorship opportunities for upperclassmen and graduate students to promote the fluid exchange of ideas and knowledge within the department as well as long-lasting relationships. At meetings, undergraduates can expect to learn about interesting classes, novel senior research projects, internship opportunities, and how to get more involved with the department. Meetings generally take place twice per month on Tuesdays at 5:00 pm in the anthropology house. If you would like to get more involved with UAS and support the voice of Northwestern’s fine undergraduates, contact us (b-dubin@northwestern.edu or l-rogers@northwestern.edu). Undergraduate Anthropology Mentorship Program (UAMP) How would you describe your earliest experiences as an anthropology major? Exciting? Frightening? Life-changing? Totally confusing? Attempting upper-level courses, approaching unfamiliar professors, and preparing a thesis are among the number of challenges any major must face. Involved upperclassmen are stepping up to help answer your questions by offering their knowledge and expertise within the department and its many facets. If you are interested in participating in this program either as a mentor or mentee, please fill out the appropriate form and contact Brian Dubin (b-dubin@northwestern.edu).
